MR.BOOGIE WOOGIE & THE FIRESWEEP BLUESBAND
Bandleader Eric-Jan Overbeek started his musical career after hearing Fats Domino's version of 'Swaney River Hop'. Soon after he brought his piano teacher to despair, because he couldn't offer Eric-Jan blues piano lessons.
Under the influence of American masters like Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade Lux Lewis, Overkeek developed to become a virtuoso boogie woogie piano-player. His artist name 'Mr. Boogie Woogie' seemed the obvious choice.
In 1991 Mr. Boogie Woogie and the Firesweep Blues Band
released their debut CD ' Bluesin' & Cruisin' which led to succesful
international shows.
Since then the band has been a favourite at many blues festivals, boogie woogie
nights, club dates, private parties and many other occasions.
With their repertoire of almost 100 songs the band have been able to surprise their audiences across Europe.
Original compositions are mixed with covers of B.B. King, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Meade Lux Lewis, Leon Russell and Dr. John.
