Cajun music, as it was in the late 1920's and early 1930's, is the main source of inspiration for The Cajun Company. Unlike many other today's Cajun musicians in Louisiana, and even more so abroad, who incoporate modern music styles in their music, The Cajun Company has chosen for preserving and playing authentic Cajun music.

With this intention, while being non-Cajuns, it was necessity for the group to make a thorough study of the roots of Cajun music.
Bandleader Bas van der Poll spent many hot summers in southwest Louisiana to study the style of the old generation accordion players.

So far the Cajun Company has toured in Louisiana, U.S.A. three times and is the first and so far only European Cajun Band to receive an Award-nomination from the CFMA, the Cajun French Music Association in Lafayette.

In their strive to reproduce the authentic sound, The Cajun Company works in a traditional set up: Cajun accordion, acoustic guitar, fiddle and 'tit fer.

Music that was played after a hard day’s work in the fields and at the "fais do do" during the weekend. Cajun Music is intense and powerfull.
The joys and sorrows of Cajun life in the past decades are reflected in the up tempo two-steps and melancholic waltzes. So put on your dancing shoes when the Cajun Company is in your town !!
